In the past, other terms have been instead of genocide like “ Germanization” “Italianization” or Magyarizatoin”. The meaning for them is the impositions by a stronger nations upon a small groups which it controls. Why these terms do not serve a fair purpose as well is because they do not convey biological destruction, and cannot be used in a generic term. Obviously in Indian they would not want to proceed to Germanize their country.
“Hitler stated many times that Germanization could only be carried out with the soil, never with men.” Therefore the killing of men seem to not be part of Germaniziation, which is why an author deemed a new term which involved the killing of races. The new word cames from the ancient Greek word genoc which means race or clan, and the Latin suffix cide (killing). This combination created the word genocide meaning; race killing. Ironically the ending of the word genocide corresponds to such words a tyrannicide, homicide, and patricide.
I partially love how the word genocide relates to tryannicide, which root word is tyrant. A tyrant is known as a villain, someone with a very horrific, and devil like nature, which I believe perfectly, explains the nature behind genocide. “Genocide as defined by the United Nations in 1948 means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, including: (a) killing members of the group (b) causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group (c) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part (d) imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group (e) forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
